After spending a few days in Charlottesville we headed to the Carolinas to spend a week at Nags Head with my family (the Osters). My sister Sarah found this beautiful house located right across from the sound and within 2min. from the beach--it was great. There was plenty of room for us to spread out, two huge porches so you could always find a rocking chair to kick back in and read and a nice hot tub to relax in at night.
Having grown up going to the beach and bringing Ben along with me for the past several years we had grown used to the 'way' we do the beach. Basically it meant sleeping in, throwing on the bathing suit, spending most of the day on the beach or at least at the pool and reading 1-3 books during the course of the week. Well...life with a daughter kinda changes things a bit. We would head down to the beach earlier in the morning and make our way back up around lunch time to spend the rest of the day watching movies, napping or reading. I may have given up time in the sun but it sure felt good to have extra hands to play with Ella as i relaxed my afternoons away. I would never trade our sweet Ella for our old 'way' of beaching it.
Ella loved the beach. Of course we really don't know how much because she still doesn't smile all that often but she never seemed to mind the waves as they crashed on her legs or the taste of salt water and sand that somehow always seemed to find their way into her mouth. She definitely takes after her mom and dad--becoming the next little beach bum.
As always, it was great to be with my family. There is something so sweet about being with the people you love so much and being known and understood without having to say anything at all.
We had too many fun pictures for me to limit them to the blog so you can click on this link and see the album that i created--enjoy!!
