Ella has just recently begun enjoying books. She would prefer to sit at her "desk" and read to herself than have me read to her. This is only one of the many ways she is beginning to exert her independence--i love it! She will spend countless minutes "reading" through her many books. I would love any book recommendations if anyone wants to share....

hahahaha! that is the cutest thing ever. her little words while she was reading to herself were so sweet. and then I realized she actually has the book upside-down -- even better. haha!
we have the funniest casette tape of dusty reading something with my mom when she was like 2-3 years old. it was an animal book and she was going through saying "the sheep says baa," etc. then for some reason, there was this one page she hated with the family of cartoon pigs. you can hear her hitting the page and she says "bad pig!! bad pig!!" it's so funny. she reads the book two or three times and has the same reaction each time. I'm so glad y'all have this tape of ella. I'm sure she will love it when she gets older. :)
What a gift! I love her little, "ya"s! She's had great training from her parents!
Here's some of my favorites for her age (and my age, too!)
"Moo, Baa, La, La, La" by Sandra Boynton
"Pat the Bunny" by Dorothy Kunhardt
"The Very Quiet Cricket" by Eric Carle (one of my favorite artist/authors)
"The Monster at the End of This Book" by Jon Stone, starring Grover Monster(not totally her age, but will be soon. A great book to be expressive when reading.)
I love children's lit! Lv, Alicia
Owen has been a little bookworm for quite a while now. He loves books by Sandra Boynton, as well as books by Eric Carle. He LOVES Brown Bear, Brown Bear. He also really like books with flaps that he can lift up and see what's underneath.
If Ella ever gets tired of her selection of books, feel free to come borrow from my "library"...now that I'm not teaching anymore I have TONS of books longing to be read! I guess that's one of the perks of being an elementary teacher before having kids...you have tons of kid materials ready to go!
Countless "minutes" reading. Yup, that's our Ella! She is one 'on the go' girl! Her Daddy liked the Richard Scary gold bug books. Grandma P
She is adorable! All the books listed are favorites of ours too.
So, what about your new house?
