A few weeks ago I decided that I would try having a picnic on the front porch because it was so beautiful outside. I wasn't quite sure how Ella would handle the freedom of eating on a blanket but she did great. She loved watching every little 'lady bug' (she calls all bugs lady bugs) crawl across the blanket in hopes of making it up onto her plate. When flys would land on her sandwich she would scream in excitement and say "shoe fly". Now everytime we are getting ready to eat she asks if we can eat outside on the porch. So we often find ourselves lining our porch with food, toys, blankets and chairs for lunchtime. If you are ever in our area around noon stop by and join us!

Love your new tradition!
In my younger years, my mom used to keep our same picnic tradition alive even in the winter. She would spread out a blanket in the living room, and we'd eat fried chicken on the floor. Fantastic memories!
You are such a blessing your children!
When Ben was little, and sitting on our front proch a caterpiller crawled up on to his leg. But it wouldn't stay. Ben would go get it, sit back down and return the bug to his leg only to have it crawl away again. After this had happened several times, Ben became quite upset because he felt the caterpiller would not be his friend. Kids and bugs. :-)
