The Silver Streak

[B] This summer a seminary buddy and neighbor, Will Spink, and I have been coaching a little league baseball team of 11-13 year olds - the Silver Streak. Several of the kids live in the same apartment complex as we do, and coaching was a fantastic way to spend some time with them and to get involved in our local township. The season started out rough as many of the kids had never played ball before. But they learned remarkably quick, and we capped the season off with 2 wins in a row. I'm fairly certain that Will and I were more thrilled with getting that first win than the players were - let's just say there was a little bit of jumping up and down on our part. Above, meet part of our team: (l-r) Jaylen, Ashley, Rasheika, Coach Will, Rashad, Bryan, Shawn, and Cortez.

The St. Louis Cardinals organized and funded the league, and after the season they gave the players and coaches on every team tickets to a Cards game - and they introduced us on the field beforehand!! Here we are walking out of the tunnel...

And around the field we go (yeah, we weren't actually allowed to touch the grass - but we could've if we made a break for it), urged on by the deafening roar of the crowd.
