[B] I mentioned in the previous post that the main reason we wanted to start up this blog was to keep folk updated on the progress of our pregnancy. Well, there is one particular folk we had in mind - my gorgeous sister Gini is currently serving as a missionary on the coast of Africa. Needless to say, she is far, far away from all that is happening to us here in St. Louis, but this blog will serve to bring us straight to her all the way across the Atlantic. Gini is working with a ministry called Mercy Ships, an organization which basically outfits large cruise-line type vessels to be floating hospitals that travel from port to port administering medical aid to the local people. So Gini is living on a boat, the Anastasis, which is currently at port in Tema, Ghana. How indescribably cool is that?! Gini left the U.S. on August 3 and will be gone for an entire year. The ship will remain at Ghana most of that time. Her position on board is a vital one - she is the head teacher of the preschool aged children of all the other staff, doctors and otherwise. By the way, I tricked you - the picture above was not taken on the Anastasis, but rather on the cruise that our family took this past summer. Pictures and stories from that vacation are forthcoming.

Here's another picture of Gini, with Anna. We are quite the nautical family, evidently. Check out www.retrop918.blogspot.com to read more about the honorable work Gini is doing in Africa.
